Brent Freeman, MAT, WFR, is President & CEO of Camptown, a seasoned nonprofit executive and educational leader dedicated to transforming the lives of youth through outdoor adventure. Brent leads an organization that mentors and challenges thousands of young people across Central Indiana, using nature as a classroom to build character, confidence, and hope.
Leadership & Community Impact
A recognized leader in the Indianapolis community, Brent was a member of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series (Class XL). His commitment to youth development extends across multiple boards and organizations:
Covenant Christian High School: Currently serving as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors.
MCCOY (Marion County Commission on Youth): Served for five years on the board, advocating for youth-focused resources and systemic change.
Indianapolis Praxis Redemptive Entrepreneurship Lab: 2024 Nonprofit Fellow.

Educational Leadership & Documentary Feature
Before leading Camptown, Brent spent over a decade in the Indianapolis education sector as a teacher and administrator including 5 years as Indianapolis Public Schools Special Education and Unified Student Supports Officer. He is particularly known for his tenure as a School Leader in the Meadows neighborhood, where his school set record graduation rates through creative support for adult learners. This impactful work was featured in the award-winning documentary Night School, which followed three of his students as they navigated the challenges of earning a high school diploma.

Education & Background
Brent holds a B.A. in Sports Management from Taylor University, an M.A. in Teaching from Marian University, and post masters credit from Marian University where he earned his Building Level Administrator and K-12 teaching licenses. He is also a certified ANFT Forest Therapy Guide, ACA River Canoe Instructor, SOLO Wilderness First Responder, Leave No Trace Trainer and Challenge Course Facilitator.
Personal
Brent and his wife, Alex, have been married for 17 years. They live in Indianapolis with their four children (ages 8, 10, 12, and 14). As a family, they remain true to Camptown’s mission, spending their time traveling the globe, hiking, camping, and exploring Indiana and America’s public lands.
