Barbara J. Eichorst, MS, RD, CDCES, is an internationally recognized leader in diabetes care and education. She serves as Vice President of Health Programs at the American Diabetes Association, where she leads enterprise-wide strategy across clinical, community, and education platforms. Her work focuses on designing and scaling high-impact, patient-centered programs that integrate clinical excellence with operational efficiency and system-wide transformation. Barbara is globally recognized for her leadership in advancing diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES), having worked across more than 120 countries to support the standardization and implementation of evidence-based education models. With a diverse background spanning population health, workforce development, and global program implementation, she has led large-scale training initiatives for both healthcare professionals and people living with diabetes. She brings a unique ability to translate evidence into practice, aligning multidisciplinary care models to improve outcomes, reduce health system burden, and expand access to sustainable, evidence-based chronic disease care.
