Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine
Parker, Colorado, United States
Nicholas Muñoz is a 34-year-old second-year osteopathic medical student at Rocky Vista University (RVU) whose career is defined by a deep commitment to service, leadership, and holistic health. Prior to pursuing medicine, Nicholas served his country with distinction for 12 years, spending nine years on active duty and three years in the National Guard. As a combat veteran and former EOD Team Leader, his exceptional service earned him a Bronze Star.
At RVU, Nicholas is a highly engaged student leader. He serves as the Student Government Association (SGA) President and is enrolled in the university's Academic Medicine and Leadership track. His dedication to osteopathic medicine recently culminated in his acceptance into the Osteopathic Principles and Practice (OPP) fellowship program, a role he will officially begin in August 2026, which includes earning a master's degree in Applied Osteopathic Biokinematics.
Nicholas is deeply passionate about health, fitness, and nutrition. He is a competitive powerlifter and is currently exploring the addition of a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification to his credentials during his fellowship year. As an advocate for plant-based nutrition, he lives a plant-based lifestyle and is actively developing a 14-day vegan meal plan and resource guide to help others transition to this way of eating. When it's time to unwind, he enjoys gaming, often organizing sessions with his family gaming group, "Brothers Gaming."
He comes from a driven family, with one brother training to be a pilot and another serving as a community care director and paramedic. He also maintains a strong support system, anchored by a best friend of nearly two decades who is an established Family Medicine physician.
Looking to the future, Nicholas is charting a path toward a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at a top veteran-focused program, with strong secondary interests in wilderness medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. His ultimate vision is to give back to the community that shaped him by establishing a private clinic focused on PM&R and Lifestyle Medicine that provides free, comprehensive healthcare to his fellow veterans.
