Bella Vista Family Eye Care
Rockford, Michigan, United States
I earned BS in Nutritional Science from Michigan State University 1994 and then went to Illinois College of Optometry graduating with my Doctor of Optometry (OD) in 1998. I practiced in my hometown of Clare, MI for several years before moving and purchasing Bella Vista Family Eye Care in 2005 where I have been in solo practice ever since. I am a member of the Michigan and American Optometric Associations, the Ocular Wellness and Nutrition Society, Rockford Lions Club and Rockford Chamber of Commerce.
I attended a Culinary Medicine class in 2017 which led me to the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. I joined in 2021 and became a Diplomate in 2023. Since then I have been incorporating Lifestyle Medicine into my treatment plans and developing resources about Lifestyle Medicine for my patients. I have done cooking demonstrations and posted one on our website for patients to view. I have also done an in person cooking demo in our office. In early March 2026, along with our local hospital's Lifestyle Medicine team, I facilitated "Beyond Carrots: Cooking for Eye and Whole Body Health". This was open to the current patients and community members.
In June 2026 we will be hosting a Culinary Medicine for Eye Health, hands on cooking class for the vision providers in our area.
In the Spring semester of 2023 I started as a Clinical Adjunct at the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University where I work with current optometry students delivering clinical care.
My wife, Tiffany, and I have been married since 1998 and have 2 grown children. We serve as co-pastors of our church where I am also assistant CFO.
If there is ever any free time I enjoy time outdoors (running, riding, etc), spending time with family and cooking.
