Jocelyn Mallard, MSN, APRN, CPNP-PC is a pediatric nurse practitioner specializing in sickle cell disease (SCD) care for over 20 years. Throughout her career, she’s witnessed the struggles adolescents and emerging adults experience during the transition from pediatric to adult care. Currently she works with a dynamic team to guide adolescents successfully through the transition to adult care. She continues to educate families and patients about SCD management practices. One of the essential components in this management: complete nutrition. Access to healthy food is important for everyone, especially those suffering from chronic illness. Understanding the relationship between nutrition and optimal health, she was led to serve on the Medical Advisory Board for the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies. Using her extensive knowledge of sickle cell care and nutrition, she motivates clients to discover the powerful impact achieved combining medications with wise food choices. Partnering with Plant-based Nutrition Movement to provide “food as medicine” education to people with chronic illness - specifically sickle cell disease - has been a highlight of her career.
