Emily C. Jamo, OMS-IV, D.O. Candidtate, Class of 2026, Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. As a non-traditional student, Emily spent 8 years traveling the world as a member of the Air Force before switching to a career in medicine. Throughout this time, she became plant-based, taught yoga and meditation, tried every form of exercise available, and developed a solid grasp of what her ideal healthcare practice might look like in the future. After briefly learning about lifestyle medicine in a documentary years earlier, Emily began the first ever Lifestyle Medicine Interest Group at MSUCOM as a first year medical student. Since then, she has continued to promote the tenets of lifestyle medicine both at her school and around the community through volunteering, hosting events, engaging in research, and also trying her best to live out the tenets in her everyday life. Emily is a certified yoga instructor dedicated to promoting mindfulness, balance, and holistic health in both personal and professional settings. With a deep interest in lifestyle medicine and the mind–body connection, she strives to create classes that blend intentional movement with grounded awareness—helping others find presence and peace both on and off the mat. Emily aspires to bring the vibrance of healthy living to as many future patients as possible while advocating for reform and betterment of our healthcare system to make these changes more accessible to all.
