Dr. Steven Fleischman is the current President of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is an obstetrician-gynecologist in private practice with Sound Obstetrics and Gynecology and serves as the Associate Chief of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Yale New Haven Hospital. He is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the Yale University School of Medicine actively involved in resident and medical student education. He received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended Albany Medical College and completed his residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. He joined Sound Obstetrics and Gynecology and has been in private practice providing obstetric and gynecologic care for the past twenty four years. He is currently the managing partner of this single specialty practice. In 2021 he received his MBA from Southern Connecticut State University. He has been actively involved in organized medicine and has held key roles in multiple medical organizations, including the Connecticut State Medical Society and the American Medical Association. He was Legislative Chair of the State Medical Society for seven years and then served as the Chair of their governing board. At the AMA he served on the ACOG Delegation, eventually serving as chair and served on AMPAC, the AMA’s political action committee. Dr. Fleischman has been extensively involved with ACOG starting as a Junior Fellow. He was the National Junior Fellow Chair of the JFCAC and served as the Young Physician on the board several years later. He was one of the original PAC Committee members and served several terms as Chair of the PAC Committee. He served as District I Treasurer and Chair and at the National level as Treasurer before starting his term as President. Dr. Fleischman has also been involved in his community serving as an elected member of the Board of Education in his town for eleven years eventually serving as the Chair of the board. He has served as President of his Synagogue, the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven and the Jewish Foundation of Greater New Haven. He lives in Milford, CT with his wife, Andrea, and has four children.
