Catherine Van Tassell holds dual master's degrees in Social Work and Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Utah. She is a licensed clinical social worker and a board-certified Physician Assistant, specializing in mental health and lifestyle medicine. With extensive experience in diverse clinical settings, including inpatient and outpatient care, she has cultivated a comprehensive approach to patient care. She is also a certified personal trainer accredited by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and holds a Precision Nutrition Level One Coach certification. Catherine co-teaches the psychiatry course for Physician Assistant students at the University of Utah and is passionate about educating future healthcare providers.
As the Behavioral Health Director for GBS, she works closely with clients to develop and implement effective mental health strategies, including teaching educational seminars, policy recommendations, and innovative solutions to improve workplace mental health. Catherine has pursued additional training, earning a certificate in Integrative Medicine from the University of Arizona and completing Plant-Based Nutrition and Evidence-Based Optimal Nutrition certificates from eCornell and the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, and Harvard School of Public Health. She is also a Diplomate of Lifestyle Medicine through the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. As an international keynote speaker, she enjoys engaging with audiences about mental health and sharing her expertise. Her insights have been featured in podcasts, articles, and seminars, where she discusses plant-based nutrition, mood disorders, addiction, and lifestyle medicine.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Catherine is an accomplished endurance athlete, having completed multiple Ironman triathlons and ultramarathons. Her dedication to promoting wellness and healthy living through lifestyle medicine extends into all aspects of her personal and professional life.
