Jeff Murrie, AKA "Farmer Jeff," has been a leader in the Farm to School movement in South Carolina since establishing a school-based farm at Briggs Elementary School in Florence, SC in 2015. He holds certifications from Clemson University, Shelburne Farms, and The Chef Ann Foundation. In May of 2023, The Farm at Florence 1 officially opened and today is proud to be the only public school-supported educational facility focusing on nutrition, sustainability, agriculture, horticulture, and natural resources in the Southeast region of the United States. The ability to bring together multiple partnerships should be a role model for others to follow.
