Chronic pain is one of the most common ailments in the world yet our current armamentarium of pills and procedures fails to successfully treat more than a minority of pain patients. There are, however, simple foods to eat or avoid that can be safer, cheaper, and sometimes even more effective than drugs for pain relief. Dr. Greger will offer highlights from his upcoming new book How Not to Hurt, which reviews every noninvasive, nonpharmacologic intervention proven in randomized controlled trials to work but might otherwise remain in obscurity due to a lack of profitability.
Learning Objectives:
Evaluate the evidence base for commonly used pain-management interventions
Identify examples of low-value or potentially harmful pain-management practices that persist despite evidence of limited benefit
Describe clinical evidence supporting selected dietary and plant-based interventions for pain-related conditions and their benefits beyond pain relief
