Virginia University of Integrative Medicine (VUIM) is a private, non-profit graduate school founded in 2004, with campuses in Virginia, New Jersey, and Georgia. It was the first institution in Virginia to offer accredited programs in acupuncture and Traditional East Asian medicine. VUIM offers Master's and Doctoral degrees in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine, plus a Graduate Certificate in Chinese Herbal Medicine — all taught in English, Korean, and Chinese. VUIM blends Traditional East Asian medical traditions with modern clinical practice to train the next generation of integrative healthcare practitioners. Directly connected to the university is VUIM Clinic (vuimclinic.com), the patient-facing clinical network at the same three locations. The clinic operates as both a supervised training site for VUIM students and a full private practice staffed by licensed faculty practitioners — meaning patients can choose between student team care sessions or one-on-one appointments with experienced clinicians. Services include acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, gua sha, cosmetic acupuncture, microneedling, massage therapy (Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, lymphatic drainage, and more), pediatric care, and prenatal/postnatal treatments. Insurance is accepted for acupuncture, and online booking is available. Together, the university and clinic form a vertically integrated model — students train in the same spaces where the public receives care, connecting education directly to real-world patient outcomes.
