USA Pulses is a coalition of nonprofit organizations dedicated to advancing the role of pulse crops in improving human health and strengthening food systems. Pulses, including lentils, chickpeas, dry peas, and dry beans, are the dry, edible seeds of legumes and are among the most nutrient-dense, accessible, and sustainable foods available. Rich in plant-based protein, dietary fiber, and essential micronutrients, pulses support key health outcomes relevant to clinical and public health practice. Since 1965, USA Pulses has worked across the value chain, supporting over 5,000 growers, processors, and exporters in the United States. We invest in research to advance nutrition science, develop improved crop varieties, and expand the use of pulses in everyday foods. We also collaborate with policymakers, healthcare professionals, and industry stakeholders to ensure pulses are accurately represented in dietary guidance and public health initiatives. Our goal is to support practical, evidence-based nutrition strategies that benefit both people and the planet.
