The University of Lynchburg’s Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) program is the first and most established doctoral program developed specifically for Physician Associates/Assistants (PAs). Rooted in innovation and evidence-based practice, the program empowers clinicians to advance their leadership, education, and clinical expertise through diverse concentrations—including Lifestyle Medicine, PA Education, Health Administration, Global Health, and more. The Lifestyle Medicine Concentration prepares clinicians to address chronic disease prevention and management through a whole-person approach to care. Students gain practical tools to incorporate nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, social connection, and substance use reduction into clinical practice. Graduates become leaders in transforming patient outcomes and promoting sustainable health behaviors in individuals and communities. With a mission to elevate the PA profession and advance patient-centered care, the University of Lynchburg DMSc program combines academic rigor with flexibility for working clinicians. Our graduates are shaping the future of medicine—one lifestyle intervention at a time.
